Ibanez Makeover Complete (56k, watch out)

Hey guys. I mentioned before that I was making over my Ibanez. I just thought I would share the progress with you.

I still need the Ibanez nut, which is on its way. As you can see, the Floyd Rose nut doesn't quite fit right.

But that aside, she's beautiful! Thanks for help!

My baby, as she was.

And here's the first part of the makeover.

Ready to rock...

Won't be needing these...

These are MUCH better!

And this can go as well... hello there table!

NUDE SHOT!

Those are some nice touches.

From the looks of the old chrome one, its a Lo-TRS I, but doesnt say Ibanez on the left side, no short string lockers, no flat knife edges on left side...

Re: Ibanez Makeover Complete (56k, watch out)

Thank you all for the kind words, and again, for the help with finding parts.

Now to answer some questions...

Yessir, Victory Hop Devils are probably my favorite beer, next to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Celebration Ale, and Rogue Dead Guy Ale.

This is a 1995/1996 Ibanez RG-270. It is my first guitar, and I've taken good care of her over the years. I now have 7 guitars, and have traded and bought and sold many, but this one is special, and will never leave my possession.

The EMGs were put in in 1997, and have always sounded awesome.

The original tremelo was a chumpy single-locking Ibanez LFR. It only locked at the nut. The strings fed through the black pieces on the bridge. It was an odd tremelo. The fine tuners were never that great. But, it did the job for as long as I've had it.

The OFR just dropped right in. It's a touch smaller than the tremelo that was in there, but not too noticable, and it doesn't affect playability.

The nut is the problem however. It is not big enough, and raises the strings higher off the fretboard than the stock Ibanez nut. So my action is way too high now. I have an Ibanez nut on its way. Should be here tomorrow or Monday. I'll simply loosen the strings and swap it.

But, all in all, I'm stoked about this baby! The mods really classed up an otherwise ho-hum guitar.

Here's some quick family shots (note: it was shot before all the mods were done).
