in line capacitor for one pickup only - not sure how to pull

lets say i have an evo7 in the bridge and a blaze II in the neck, i love em both, but the blaze is a little too bright for the evo. * i want to tame the blaze by adding a capacitor to chill it to the level of the evo as far as the high end goes. *how do i wire this? *just one end of the cap to the hot of the blaze then the other end of the cap to the lug on the 5-way? *also, how does the cap rating work? *does .01 dampen the high end more than the .047 or vica versa? *i know this is a hundred questions, but thanks for the help guys.

oh yeah, after all this, im gonna try some 1 mega-ohm volume and tone control pots to make the whole system more open and responsive. *

and no, i didnt dream this up on my own (as much as it sounds like i did). steve blucher at dimarzio told me to try the 1 meg tone and control to get closer to the sound of the evos in the 7v.

The cap would go to ground. So you can connect the cap to your hot wire anywhere, even at the lug of the switch where it connects. My recommendation is to use a mini pot inline. That way you can adjust it perfectly to taste before you put the cover back. You can also take the pot off, measure its resistance at the exact level you chose, and replace it with a resistor of the same value. The two things to balance are the frequency = cap value, and the intensity of the rolloff = resistance to ground. In active systems, this is sometimes done to duplicate the effect of about 18ft of cable has on a passive system, Because active (low impedance) suffers no signal loss over long cable runs. *And *for a classic sound, the active sometimes needs some "degradation"
