Ink on satin finish neck

When my guitar was shipped to me, it was shipped with the hang tags still on it. Apparently, some ink from one of the price tag transferred onto the back of the neck. Its an S520EX with a satin finish neck. I called the store and they said that I could use shaving cream to remove it and it should be easy. I don't want my guitar smelling like I shaved it. Anyone have any better ideas? Its just light transfer and smudges but it wont come out just with a towel.

Did you try an eraser?

The lanolin in shaving cream will break down ink [and works well to form baseball gloves], so will milk [not on baseball gloves]. Your only problem will be if it's seeped into the clear. I wouldn't wait to try, unless it's been sitting on that tag since it left the distributor.

Try rubbing alcohol.

Hmmm, extra use for shaving cream. Never would of thought of that one. Good tip to try one day.
