inlay style on top scallopes

Hi! I'm feeling alittle unsure about this...I'm going to be trying to invest on some custom inlays soon.Preferably a different colored vine.As I'm wondering on the very topped scalloped frets (21-24) would abalone/real shell ware as quickly as would lets say a chrome color or vise versa; or are there not any differences in the long run? It will be played on alot and i know that's the first area where inlays start to fade.So I want the longest lasting "ware-able" purchase.Knowledge on the issue would be appreciated alot since 200-500 dollars isn't worth assumptions .

Thanks very much in advance

Ralph

Re: inlay style on top scallopes

i'd figure it would take some years to diminish off (abalone speaking) and possibly going through refretting (once, twice,or more times).is this any different from other layer styles like chrome /realshell/ect... or is the major difference between the depth of the inlay(or scallope)?you guys must understand how it is getting an inlay job done , wanting to know all the details right? Anyone care to elaborate?or am i thinking to much... lol

Just make sure those inlays go deep, like twice as deep as the others. If you're using real abalone or MOP and you can't get a piece thick enough then I would laminate two similar pieces together for a double or triple depth inlay for that section.
