Installing a Floyd on a 25" scale guitar

Hi guys,
I'm installing a Floyd Rose on a 25" scale guitar and need some help determining the measurement for the pivot posts.

I know on 25-1/2" scale guitars, you measure 25" from the front edge of the nut to determine where you drill for your pivot posts, so is it safe to assume I'd measure 24-1/2" from the front edge of the nut to determine the placement of the pivot posts on a 25" scale guitar?

Thanks for the help!

stewmac has a free online calculator for this sort of thing... I believe it's for the schaller floyd that they sell, but it will give you a starting point.

go to stewmac [dot] com --> free information --> fret calculator. Input your number of frets and scale length. I get

Floyd Rose Original 24.510" (±0.030")
Floyd Rose II & Schaller Floyd Rose 24.449" (±0.030")

when I enter 22 frets and a 25" scale length.

Seems like using 24.5" is fine, judging that you'd be well within their tolerancing!!!

Ya it's rare that I have the answer, but I was looking to do the exact same thing when I wanted to build a custom guitar from a carvin through neck kit. I ended up scraping that idea about a month ago, and bought a used Ibanez. Now I'm going to re-shape my ibanez body and headstock instead.

Good luck

What kind of floyd do you have. They do vary a bit between manufacturer.
