Installing a ZR bridge on Ibanez RG470

Hey, how's it goin ?
I've had an RG470DX for a few years now. I don't often play it anymore, the main reason for this is that the Lo Trs is such a pain in the ass to keep intonated. I installed Dimarzio's in it a few years back so it's a shame it doesn't get played as it sounds really good and I love the pickup combination. (PafPro/ToneZone)

I was wondering if it would be possible to route the trem cavity of this guitar's body so I could install a ZR tremolo?

Any help appreciated
peace
Ant

that would be far too much work/modification/time/money for you to do.

but you can throw a lo pro trem in there with very little to no modification for pretty cheap and that'll keep the thing in tune.

Re: Installing a ZR bridge on Ibanez RG470

Short answer - Yes but its complicated and expensive.

Long answer - Yes you could, but the ZR uses different pivots to normal bridges and the threads for saide pivots, and the pivot spacing, may not match up to your current bridge. If thats the case, you'd have to remove the studs and stud inserts from your current bridge, fill the holes in the body with wood filler or something similar, redrill the holes for the studds using the correct size and placement, then insert your new ZR studs and pivots.

Its also a very big bridge, so you'd definitely have to route out some wood from both the front and back to get it to fit.

If you're comfortable with doing this, then by all means go ahead, or if you have the money, again the same applies.

Other than that, a gotoh, schaller, or OFR SHOULD fit the TRS route with no modification. I would go for the gotoh floyd rose GE1996t as its the cheapest and arguably the best by some margin.

Go the Gotoh, slight mods to fix and on par with an Edge trem.
