Installing LSR roller nut

Right. I'm nearing the end of the road with my project strat now. I think anyway. One of the last things I'm thinking of doing is replacing the current stock plastic nut with a Fender LSR roller. How much effort will this be to install? Is it doable for someone, like me, who isn't a tech?

Re: Installing LSR roller nut

It isn't easy. The point at which the string leaves contact with the nut isn't right at the front, so you need to move the slot slightly towards the bridge. A much easier option (and functionally nearly as good) is to use a graphtech nut or similar.

So if I just worked the slot a bit closer to the bridge, it'll go? Sounds easy enough

Yep, some very careful measuring and woodwork and you'll be fine. Personally I'd go with the graphtech though.

Re: Installing LSR roller nut

The thing is, as opposed to it being 'nearly as good', I want the best. So, I think LSR it is (I know a locking nut is more stable but I want to be able to drop tunings easily).
