Is getting a Pickguard for an RG570RM a stupid move?

I have an RG570 Root Beer Metallic (rear routed) and i want to put a pickguard on to have a H/H pickup configuration. Has anyone ever done this? Is this a stupid move?
Also i would like to have some suggestions on what kind of pickguard to get, like how many ply, what color or design looks good with root beer metallic etc.
Lastly, has anyone done this and regretted it, regretted putting pickguard screws in the body, because from what i've heard, pickguard screws are there forever once you put em in. As well i would love to hear from anyone who has done it and wish they had done it sooner!

anyways, thanks guys

Why not just disable the middle pickup if you don't like it?
Sink it as low as it will go and just don't use it, or sell it for an RG-520.

well bamm,
First off, i forgot to mention that i also like the like the pickguard look, like the 550. also, i wont sell for a 520 because of the mahogany body, too dark. Does anyone have any answers to my question?

you could tape the guard on, keeping the pus direct mounted. just make sure the guard is for direct mount (not pickguard mounting PUs)... glen

Well, I haven't done it to an H/S/H body to make H/H but I did do it to my RG7620 to make have only one humbucker. I love it.

glen...you said tape the pickguard on? how would that work, look, and last? i want to get a brushed silver pickguard for my black rg1570 but i want to keep the direct mounted pickups and not put holes or ruin the body. thanks for the suggestion!
