Is it safe to adjust the truss rod without a tech?

I haven't done this before. Is there a way to screw up?

The biggest harm could come from not adjusting it. It's very simple, just pay close attention to what each 1/8th turn does, either by sighting the neck, or by fretting the e string at the 1st and last and looking for the clearance in the middle. Some necks will respond to a very tiny adjustment, some will want more turns.
