is it safe to drill...

some holes in body that has a poly finish? I'm looking at putting in some pickup mounting rings for SD PU's for a Japanese made guitar that originally has body-mounted PU's.

If it has hard mounted pickups just fill the tabs down of the duncans. Its easy to do. Just go slow. If you want mounting rings its safe to drill any hole as long as you go slow and dont force it to much.
