Is my 540P dead?

Following a recent, unfortunate accident the neck of the guitar has sustained some damage, manifesting itself in the form of cracks around the truss rod screws-almost extending right across the neck. Is there anyway back from this situation? Is it feasible in the UK to obtain a replacement neck, perhaps?

Ouch.

This may not be the answer you are looking for, but I come from a small clique of 540P players in the UK. My guitar tutor broke the head off his, performing an Yngwie-style guitar spin in a venue which, he discovered, had a very low ceiling. All he did was buy a shark-toothed 540S neck (way easier to get hold of than a 540P neck) and it made a perfect replacement. No mods needed. Obviously you need to make sure you get a pre-AANJ version of the neck.

I think it cost around £180 from whoever Ibanez's distributor is in the UK.

If this fails you could always buy a firewood S-series guitar (S4XX) used for around the £250 mark and pinch its neck before throwing the rest in the sea.

There is a very good tutorial dealing with cracked necks Here but beware if the crack shows up towards the fret board you may have to remove that first to prevent it from snapping
