Is this repair worth my time and money?
I found an LTD
Kirk Hammett
guitar with EMG pick-ups that needs some repair. I am wondering if it is worth the cost to fix it? The body is cracked by the pick-up switch and knobs. The place selling it is wanting about $720 for it. I don't mind putting in a little elbow grease if it is worth it to fix it. I actually like to do art/woodwork. What is your guys/gals opinion on this? Are EMG's good pick-ups? I love the inlays on the fretboard. I also love the
lock nut
and the sound is fantastic.

I've seen them go on the bay for 8-9 hundred bucks for the older ones, but in good shape. Depending on the crack, it might not be worth it...

Re: Is this repair worth my time and money?
Thanks, guys! I didn't spend the dough yet. I get nervous purchasing damaged goods, and have never bought a damaged guitar yet.

Not worth it IMO, especially since you can get one on the bay in better shape for 100 bucks more.

I have bought a used similar styled
Yngwie Malmsteen
Fender Strat
, but it is in mint condition other than a little rust on the bridge. I tend to shy away from used.

Re: Is this repair worth my time and money?
Ok, bare with me cause I'm a newbie to the solid body guitars, but what is a scallop? That is a new one on me. I just learned about pots the other day. I just learned electric last X-mas, so please be patient with my ignorance.
