Re: Jem7 Works With Floyd Rose Pro? What Locking Nuts Do I Need?
If you go with the Rose nut you'll want the "R8", 1-11/16", 15" radius. JEM's are roughly 17" but that's as good as Rose nuts get. The rest are 10" radius. Obviously an Ibanez TopLok nut would be best. Only downside with using the IBZ nut is that you'll need to carry around two wrench sizes. The "PRO" trems use a non-standard, larger hex wrench for the locks. I don't know why they did this, its a big pain. I put a StewMac lock nut one my "PRO" loaded Strat & the PRO lock bolts won't even fit the StewMac bolt holes.
The PRO bridge will likely fit. Same stud spacing as the OFR. Two concerns would be the pivot posts and the bridge radius. You might get away with using the Ibanez posts, I'm not sure. Never tried. You can't put Rose posts in the Ibanez bushings either so if you wanted the Rose posts you'd run into all kinds of problems because the Rose bushings are smaller in diameter than Ibanez which would require doweling, redrilling. I think as long as the Ibanez posts you use are "New Cut" you should have a good range.
The second concern would be bridge radius. The PRO is 10-12", something like that and you want close to 17" so you'd have to put shims under the E, A, B, & hi E saddles.
Granted, I'm a stickler and would do all of this myself. You on the other hand might slap a 10" Rose nut and put the bridge in as-is and maybe not care.
