JEM7DBK Replacement Neck

I'm planing on getting a near mint condition JEM7DBK body, without the neck. I read all about the 7DBK neck (being thinner that the reguar JEM necks), and I was wondering which neck can I fit in that body. Can I fit a 7VWH neck in it? Or a RG Prestige neck?? Please help.

Re: JEM7DBK Replacement Neck

Any AANJ neck should fit on there fine. I used a JEM7DBK neck on an RG550 and it worked perfect. Somewhere along the last few years of production, Ibanez changed the width slightly but I have yet to find a neck and body that won't fit together. Once in a while a certain combination might be a little tight or a little loose but it has never been a problem(or ever required routing or sanding). I have a Prestige neck with small dots on it to sell. Email me if you want to make an offer. albee1952@hotmail.com

Re: JEM7DBK Replacement Neck

Thanks for the reply, albee, very useful information (at least for me). I asked Rich about it, and he said that any AANJ, 24 frets, before 2005 would work. Anyway, I couldn't buy the 7DBK body, but searching on the bay, I found a few Alder or Baswood, back routed, JEM replacement bodies that seem to be well made (little bit of sanding required. Item 200206989290, just so you can see them, and give me your opinion about them). So now I'm wondering if I could fit a 7DBK neck on them. I want a 7DBK because of their neck, but If I wouldn't mind getting one of these bodies and fit a 7DBK neck.
Would the neck fit these bodies??

200206989290 is a body by thelegacy, who is a member here and has a vendor topic here in "vendors and resellers" section.

Please read the topic to see experiences. It wasn't always good, but could be on the upswing

Re: JEM7DBK Replacement Neck

my neighbor has a few jems here, and he broke one of his necks

he got one to spec --- i mean to spec from warmoth, and ommited the heel holes and attached it to his jem and then sanded it down so fit and redrilled the holes where they belong

another option, maybe, id call warmoth, they do alot of bodies and necks for people who make jems

they just dont have the templates, but u can get the bodies and the necks with emmited holes so u can sand down the necks and the heel contours to how u like it

Re: JEM7DBK Replacement Neck

The neck on the 7DBK is the exact width and thickness as the 87 RG550. I measured it with calipers and everything. weird.

I didn't know it was by the legacy. I read the topic about it, and I'm not sure if I want to do business with them. They may be on the upswing, but then again, they may not. I don't feel like pushing my luck.

Re: JEM7DBK Replacement Neck

for a buck-40 it still looks decent

remember...if the wood stock is apropriate
almost anyone can bolt it to a cnc mill

and that doesnt mean its not good

the dimensions and size and everything looks on the dot
should fin out if hes using master specs or item duplicates

Re: JEM7DBK Replacement Neck

My bodies are always 2 piece. Not 3 as stated by someone. However, in fairness to the question, I don't usually seam them in the middle. Most people are painting them and it will make no difference.

Currently I am no longer an evilbay member, but I will be back as deep6guitars shortly. All bodies and items are still available. Please feel free to get in contact with me.

Thanks,

chris
