JEMV tremelo spring problem
Hey guys I really need help on this one.I have a 03 VSBL and is a couple months old and I recently restrung it and when I hit the whammy bar I hear the sound of springs hitting the back of the guitar either way up or down.It doesnt work if I move the springs back because then the bridge will be not paralel. So I was thinking of taking a spring of one at a time and drimiling a little line across each spring. Thanks guys for your help.

Yeah I could do with bit of clarification on this one aswell Rich!
For example how does one "drimil" something?
-better shred than dead-ANDY

The springs are hitting the body,What I was planning to do was take one out and just shave off a little of the body

I seriously doubt the springs are touching the body at all, unless you have the trem sitting 1/4" out of the guitar.

You're probably hearing the springs resonating with the strings through the pickups.
If I were you, I'd try stuffing the inside of each spring with a couple cotton balls to dampen the resonance. It's the first thing I do when setting up a new guitar with a trem.

Sometimes if there's "router rash" that they don't clean up, then after the finish is applied it gets worse. It is usually the texture of sanpaper in there anyway but sometimes a big tentacle can touch the springs. Maybe that's it. If you could describe exactly where you see it touch we could help better.

He meant DREMEL, a little tool used for different kinds of work. Much like a power hand tool.
I do doubt that that's the problem, unless his springs are replacements from a camaro.

so
you
were right: your springs were scratching against the trem cavity.
did you 'dremel' it out?
