JS100 Dead - Help Needed

Hi,

I've got an Ibanez JS-100, suddenly it stopped producing any sound (well, actually it sounds but with very low volume),i've tried it on several Amps and speakers, even connected it to my PC but all gives the same result. any idea what the problem could be ??

Thanks

The answer is so obvious,if the problem is in your guitar = pups, wires, switches or input.
If all pups have the same problem so you have 2 options =

1- pups are dead
2- pups aren't the problem

Yeah, have a look at the wiring, see if there's anything loose.

Go to this page, select 2004 for the year and it should bring it up:

http://www.ibanez.com/support/wiringdiagrams.aspx

Sounds like it might be the input jack.

Re: JS100 Dead - Help Needed

I recently bought a second hand JS100 and discovered the input jack needed replacing - apparently the ones Ibanez use on the 100 wear out every year or two.

Why don't we just close this site down altogether and just rely on Google and Ibanez.

That way you won't get as upset.

Re: JS100 Dead - Help Needed

Output jack or worn/dirty pots perhaps... new ones cheap and easy to fit, if you're handy with a soldering iron...

...Might be asking the obvious here but have you checked your lead? I had this a few nights ago, plugged in and the guitar seemed very slightly quieter than normal, tone sounded very poor, turned out it was the lead!

Nonetheless check all wiring inside. You might have a dry solder joint that has a (partially) broken (or a poor) connection.

Re: JS100 Dead - Help Needed

Hey buddy, I would check your input jack first, but I also have a Js 100 and it had a issue similar with the toggle p/up selector. Somehow it was getting stuck in between phases when I would flip it. I had to take it out and bend one of the contacts. real easy fix but just odd to diagnos. These Korean made 100's are very good playing and sounding if ya change the pups but they do seem cheaply built in some areas. I am hoping that they are using completely different toggle's in the big boy's(JS-1000,1200and1600) as these are way too flimsy. I hope ya get it fixed man and beware if it is not the toggle it probably will be soon. I went and got a good WD Dist one and it feels so much stronger and springy. It wont flip all over so easy if bumped or picked onto. AKJC1977
