Just spent half my day trying to fix intonation

Just spent half my day trying to fix intonation

I had a lose saddle I tightened it too much, got a new saddle

trying to fix it back to the original position

I was fed up cos it didnt go back to normal so I started it from scratch each individual saddle

Who decided to put the nut under string so everytime you have to adjust it you have de tune and re tune the string

I'd love to make a kick ass trem thats easy adjustable and then patent

how could I forget to say its an RG and its an edge III string gauge 9-46

sorry about the rant but I need a break from intonation for a while

Anyways anyone know a goot tutorial from the very start to adjust intonation? I checked richs site but thats from factory

Re: Just spent half my day trying to fix intonation

A trick is to just block your tremolo with some pieces of wood and make it parallel with the body. That way you dont have to worry about the trem going out of whack and you can reintonate as if it were a fixed bridge.

Re: Just spent half my day trying to fix intonation

day three of trying to fix this problem

I am close to getting it right but

i seem to have problems getting some strings closer to their correct pitch

I was wondering if anyone that has an edge 3 equipped guitar with strings 9-46

could post a pic of their postioning of the saddles?

Re: Just spent half my day trying to fix intonation

Re: Just spent half my day trying to fix intonation

*warning*

the only trems that fit in the Edge-III routing are the Edge-Pro and Edge-Pro II. any other trems need further routings.

Nuno, are the bridge posts spaced right to replace an Edge III with an Edge Pro?

Re: Just spent half my day trying to fix intonation

Seems like the saddles on most of the latest generation Ibanez trems are quite delicate. Personally, if I were looking for a replacement trem, I'd get an edge pro, since it appears that the routing will work better with it.

I've also found that when setting the intonation without a tool, you have to be really patient and take your time. Last time I was setting the intonation on a trs-style bridge, it took me like 4 days to get it right, so don't get too frustrated, sometimes these things take a little time

Good Luck!

Jimmy

they are. also, don't forget that these trems feature one flat knife so it can fit in different posts spacings, within limits.

Re: Just spent half my day trying to fix intonation

Oh, that's cool man. So I could probably go ahead and buy a 350 with an Edge III and swap it out for the EP. That's news to me. I thought only an OFR would fit. Cheers.
