Kahler vs Floyd Rose
According to your experiences, which one would you pick up?
I know that lo pro edges and edges (for ibanez) are good. But even they go out of tune more easyly than kahlers'.
I have plans to get my own guitar built. So, i must decide well. Now, my decision is edge7 or lo pro edge7 (mostly lo pro edge7)
But i want my guitar has a tremolo unit, floating type. Moreover i want it to be in tune well, especially on bending... Shortly i need experinces, dudes...

Re: Kahler vs Floyd Rose
I had a kahler
equipped guitar
but it was too chunky for me to play with
it felt awkward positioning my hand over it
when playing
Floyd roses suited me better I use the low profile floyd rose
which for me is the best I ever used

Indeed, Kahler is back. I had a gold 2700 series trem on the 'bay, and it was their parts department who were the ones who bought it from me. Weird, huh?

Re: Kahler vs Floyd Rose
Both systems are good, I have guitars equipped with different kahler models and I must say I like them all, they also provide a bit of a better tone and sustain since they are mounted on the guitar vs being routed into the body.

Re: Kahler vs Floyd Rose
my kahler never stayed in tune. the roller saddles froze up at one point. and when i whammied, it was like there was a lack of sustain. like the notes would die out, where as the floyd would sustain forever. maybe i just had bad luck, but when i played a floyd, i had the kahler replaced instantly. it left and extra gap in the guitar but i didnt care. this is the top mounted kahler, not the pivoting floyd rose type kahler. i think that was the kahler spider???
anyway...i also don't like the look of a kahler.
there's a reason why so many guitars have floyds and not kahlers. it works really great. it's such a simple design and does the job like no other.
you could go with a washburn wonder bar too. ;-)

Re: Kahler vs Floyd Rose
My Edges don't go out of tune! Never had a problem with that. On the other hand (IMHO) the Kahler's are bulky and cumbersome. I never have like them as much as the FR's, and (IMHO again) the Edge series are the best

I love the Edge Pro's..... I have Floyds on an old Kramer Beretta and a
Jackson Soloist
and had a Kahler on a customized Strat and liked them both until I used an Edge Pro. Even the original Floyds don't come close to the Edge Pro's regarding bulk, ease of maintenance, staying in tune, etc.

Re: Kahler vs Floyd Rose
Kahler has never made a design to my knowledge that stays in tune better than a floyd. They have several compromising points in their engineering that allows the strings to bind, and turn, specifically since they dont have locking saddles. As soon as you do a pullup with one the sustain is completely dead as well, as theirs an inherent flaw in their pullup design. The big advantage they do have is allowing you to
palm mute
as heavily as you want, since the staddles are somewhat stationary on most of their designs. I personally have blocked all my kahlers and use them as fine tuning bridges now in tandem with
locking tuners
:P. I hate soldering strings to try to get them to stay in tune.

You don't need to. GHS and SIT make strings that you don't need to solder.
