Knife Edge Quiestion

Can someone tell me why one of the knife edges in a Tremolo is round and the other one is straight?? doesn't seem to make any sense to me...the question might sound stupid, but if you have the correct answer, i'd appreciate it very much.

The round one keeps it in place, prevents side to side play basically.

Interestingly enough floyds original design has both knife edges rounded
