korean locking nuts - loosin tuning does the hardware finish matters on tuning??

hi, i have 2 guitars, an 1995 RG470 korean made and an 1995 RG270 also korean made.

the 470 has the LOTRSII trem black finish, works really fine, never loses the tuning, even if there is an abuse of the arm (dive bombs and things like that i always do)...

the RG270 had the ibanez single locking in chrome finish. It used toi loose the tuning all the time, with bendings, dive bombs, even sweet playing... a disaster

Trying to fix that i`ve trade the original tremolo from the 270 for an original EDGE trem and some cash (about 30$ + the original trem). I did install it and the problem continued.

I`ve realized that the problem was on the locking nuts, i`ve exchanged it with the 470 ones and it got really better... but i`m looking and comparing them and thay look exactly the same... even the same model R43 (i know the 43 is 43mm) but look the same.

maybe is the finish that makes that problem??? the siver finish looks really cheap i have to say... but maybe theres no grip??? or just the materiales arent the same??? like the differences between the LOTRS and the LOTRSII???

HELP GUYS IVE FINALLY GOT AN EDGE I CANT GET ALL OUT OF IT!!!

thanks

Well you need to make sure the guitar is properly setup. Go to the tech section at www.ibanezrules.com and follow all of rich's instructions. I think the issue will resolve itself after that. Although their is a quality difference with the cheaper locking nuts i have a 270 that i put an original floyd into and it stays in tune extremely well with the original locking nuts on it so yours should be fine too

and what about the finish??... im new to the edge bridge, but with the lo trs i`ve made my setups for about 10 years... i think it is set up ok (still needs to be fixed the intonation)... but remember i`ve changed the locikng nuts with the ones on the rg470 and it worked better...

wich years is your 270?? wich finish??

thanks!!

Mine is a rg270bbk (black on black on black) the first jet black 270 ever made, every inch of it is completely black :P. I was quite proud of it at the time it was part of a limited run of 100 or so made for venemans music emporium. If it worked better with the new locking nuts its possible that the whole nut is slipping but what you say doesnt make sense............if the locking nut was the issue the new pads wouldnt help. So what you are saying doenst make sense to me. The finish on the nut has nothing to do with the tuning stability of the guitar. And obviously if its not staying in tune something is wrong!!!! I promise you will learn something from rich's setup tutorials!

Re: korean locking nuts - loosin tuning does the hardware finish matters on tuning??

i think i didnt explained well, i changed the whole locking sistem, the nuts and the block, the whole silver system form the 270 switch for the whole black system in the 470, the nuts and the block where they get screwed in...

in the 270 with the black it keeps tune, and the silver one in the 470, loses tune... it seems that the strings got loose from the nuts... i know it sounds weird, but it seems...

i saw richs tutorials... the setup is done (still needs intonation)...

i understand you... it sounds weird... but ill like to know if the part in the 270 is lowr quality than the one in the 470... does it makes logic?? the silver finish looks very cheap... VERY..

thanks dude
