Lo-Pro Edge Problem

Hi, I've got a 2000 Ibanez Floral Jem with a lo-pro edge and when i pull up the low e string goes out, but when i dive it comes back in tune. It only happens with the low e, the other strings go back perfect. Do any of you know what the problem might be and how i can fix it?

Thanks.
Vincent.

Re: Lo-Pro Edge Problem

Try turning the locking pad for the B and E strings 180 degrees. It may have become grooved and if the pad has been replaced upside down, the E could be sliding through the old B string groove.

Re: Lo-Pro Edge Problem

I put on a new set of strings ad stretched them in and now they all go slightly sharp when i pull up. I had a look at the tech section at Ibanez Rules and it looks like i have either fat knife edges or bad posts because my guitar goes sharp when i pull up but if i push it down a bit and release it it will return to pitch. Is there a way for me to find out whether it is the knie edge or posts that are bad and how can i fix it?

Thanks.
Vincent.

If you ever notice tuning issues again just reapply.

Yes, just as much as needed. Chapstick is a valuable addition to the toolbox! Also check that all parts - nut screws, locking pads, neck screws, saddle screws - are tightened nicely so that nothing slips. Don't overtighten though, obviously.

Re: Lo-Pro Edge Problem

Should I just file the knife edges to save me the trouble of reapplying it? will that stop me having to apply chapstick or will i still have to apply chapstick to get it perfect anyway. Because i am not too comfortable with taking the trem off and messing around with it but i don't want to have to keep applying chapstick too often.

Thanks.

Re: Lo-Pro Edge Problem

You don't have to take the trem off to put a spat of chapstick on the studs. Turn them 180 degres, apply lube, and turn back.

Re: Lo-Pro Edge Problem

I mean taking it off and sanding the knife edge.

Re: Lo-Pro Edge Problem

If i sand the knife edge down, will i still have to use chapstick? because i find it abit of a hassle to have to keep putting chapstick.

Thanks.
Vincent.
