Locking Nut Pad Orientation

Which way? *I can see the curve on the sides so I can match the U shape on the pad to the u shape curve on the nut for the side pads but what about for the center? *I can see two lines indicating the curve but then there are still two ways I still can't decide between which should be correct. *Anyone have any ideas?

But it should be the same when put "front" or "backwards" right - there is no specific orientation as long as the profile is correct right?

Ok I took the pads off for the sake of shutting myself up, but uhh *I coulnd't help but realize that the side pads aren't symmetrical. *Is this normal and you should line them up *so that "U" curve points inwards? *Just curious

pads have a soft curve on the UNDERSIDE to match the hump on the top of the locking nut...

turn your head to the left to view this crude picture

low-e

forget the top of the pad... the underside is what matters ...glen

Pads come in 2 different orientations, some pre 87' pads will line up like this --- --- --- post 87' pads line up like this I I I (unless you have a mixed set of pads), but they are always installed so that the undercurve mates up to the curve of the top of the nut. We're not talking rocket science here.

If the top of the pads are put in like the diagram, the bottoms should match up.
If they don't, get a replacement pad.

Anyone else notice the little "curve" to the Low E/A pad in the diagram? *
Could just be my mind playing tricks on me.
