Locking Strat Trem

There's a few things I'm on the lookout for.
One of those things are a Locking Strat Trem...one where I don't need to route the bride area....and one where the locking nut is behind the actual nut, cause I just spend over 100$ on a new nut.

They used those style trems on old Japan Strats, which has a locking nut behind the normal nut. Anyone know where I can find one similar to this?

thanks.

Re: Locking Strat Trem

Fender makes a Deluxe locking trem and I believe you can still order it through your local fender dealer. I wouldn't bother so much with a locking nut, just get a set of schaller locking tuners and you should be good to go.

I sold one of those not long ago that came off my 80s "Contemporary" strat. I believe they were called a System II trem -- one of 3 models Fender put on strats of that era in an effort to compete with the Floyd craze. You could probably find one in the auctions, but I think you'd be much happier with a newer system. Those trems had serious machining problems and were difficult to keep in tune, parts are impossible to find, etc.

Cheers,
Bert

I was really really hoping for fine tuners and a locking nut. I've tried several guitars with this setup, and it still went out a little bit every time I try to do big whammy bar tricks....which i do a lot. Thank you for you're suggestion though.

If you're trying to do "whammy bar tricks", you might as well go for the real thing and get a double locking system (be it Ibanez or OFR). The downside is that you'll need to route the guitar.

Yeah....that's the sad realization I'm coming too.

Maybe a Super Vee will pop up on e-bay for cheap.

How was the nut on those guitars? I'm not into big whammy tricks, I would imagine either Fender's Roller Nut, or a properly lubricated nut would help the guitar return to pitch.
