Question

Loose Bar Question

I'm pretty sure this is the solution to my problem:

http://www.ibanezrules.com/tech/setup/loose_holder.htm

but I was wondering if there is a way to do this without removing the bridge, as I really don't like having to reset my floyd.

Re: Loose Bar Question

if you have a long enough needle nose pliers and a very wide-blade flathead you could do it without removing the bridge...

However...you can take the springs off and the bridge will pop out (obviously)...as long as the 3 screws at the nut are locked and you don't mess with anything else, you should be able to reattach the springs and be back in tune and ready to play.

Don't be scared

Re: Loose Bar Question

Hahaha. I've heard. I'm just a LITTLE skeptical since I JUST figured out the Floyd and set it all up perfectly for my first time. I think you know how that is. But if that way works without having to tweak anything after removal of the bridge, I will give it a shot. thanks.

Re: Loose Bar Question

Don't be afraid to tweak and take off the bridge. Every time I take off the bridge with the strings still attached, when I put it back on, it's usually in tune and exactly as it was before.

Re: Loose Bar Question

Just stuff a bit of plastic bag around the bar when you snap it in. Even if you manage to tighten that thing the hard way, it's just going to be loose again in a week or two.

Re: Loose Bar Question

Plastic bag around the bar is completely irrelevant. The holder is loose, so it will turn in the hole whether the bar is tight in the holder or not (actually worse with a tight bar). If you get the holder tight enough, it will not come loose in a week or two. A loose bar is another matter entirely.
