Re: <<WANTED>>LBU color

Have you seen the pics of the one I had on my website?

http://www.animetor.com/guitars/jcustom/

It's actually a bit more greenish than that in reality. I believe the LBU stood for Lake Blue (something or order). The color is kinda like looking at lake water. Even though it's supposed to be blue, it's got that greenish tint to it.

Re: <<WANTED>>LBU color

yeah, it is significantly greener than the pics on your site. mind you, the only other pic i found of an RG1302LBU looked the same colour. i'd take a pic of mine for you, but there's only a few square inches of finish left on it!

how many of these would've been produced? it's tough finding any references to them on the 'net.

Re: <<WANTED>>LBU color

That's looks about right actually.

I don't think Ibanez made a whole lot of the RG1302's as they were the first batch of J-Customs to roll out back in '96. Can't say how many, but since they had over 10 different J-Custom models back then I wouldn't be surprised to see low production figures on them. (Maybe 100-200 I dunno).

None the less, the RG1302 is still a great guitar. Ibanez should *DEFINITELY* make more guitars out of swamp ash. Man.. I'd sooo kill for a RG8670 with a Swamp Ash body and a figured maple top. I remember talking to John Suhr from Suhr guitars once and he kinda said something about Swamp Ash and Maple as being the holy grail combination or something along those lines. Maybe Ibanez should start checking out the boutique guitars (Tom Anderson, Suhr, etc...) to see what they're doing and get some ideas.

Re: <<WANTED>>LBU color

agggggh...you make me confused buddroyce
maybe I should just top mine with maple if I don't find the right LBU color but I think it might be better to keep J-custom in original state...CONFUSING

Re: <<WANTED>>LBU color

Quite frankly I wasn't a big fan of the LBU color. If Damo7v didn't end up buying it off me I would have stripped it and finished in with a glossy opaque black with some nice natural binding. I'm not big on the whole look of swamp ash by itself. Looks too much like a strat.

It's really up to you if you want to recolor it to the LBU. I would go for either a darker blue, a piano black or drop a figured maple veneer on it. (Going black would be my first preference though).

(Mind you, you gotta love how great the RG1302 sounds acoustically. It was still my most musical sounding guitar without an amp)
