Make you Boss DS-1 a clean boost no coloring
I bought a DS-1 to do some modifying after reading a very simple tutorial on how to make it a clean boost/treble booster.
By clipping the Diodes D4 and D5, and the cap C12. Just be careful of the surrounding areas when clipping
It turns the unit into a clean boost with the tone set fully counter clockwise and then you can dial in the amount of treble boost by going adding clockwise.
Very simple mod took all of 3 mins to clip the Diodes and the Cap..
This mod sounds amazing in front of my PodXT I will try and get some demo clips tommorrow.. Lots of CLEAN gain now..
Just thought I would pass the info along.. Yet another DS-1 mod..
** I take no responsibility of you hacking into your pedal **

If you have a Japanese version sell it, its worth a little bit of cash.. You can then go buy a new one for $40 and mod it, and have a little cash to boot

Yeah, I may do that.
what do you do when you clip them? do you just clip one of the contact points or, do you cut the whole thing out and solder a patch wire to complete the connection?

you clip it completely out and leave it as is..
Its the simplest DS-1 Mod I have seen anywhere on the net.. No soldering, nothing but a clip here and there..
I will show some pics when I get home from work this evening around 9pm

I know that the diodes create the clipping circuit, I.E. the distortion. So by clipping them out. . . out goest the distortion. Pretty simple.
Do you happen to know what the cap does?
If this tutorial is online somewhere, can you link it?
Thanks!

Re: Make you Boss DS-1 a clean boost no coloring
there is literally like 20 mods for this pedal..
Anything from the clean boost, a rectifier, a tremelo LOL, synths, the keeley mods, all sorts of things haha
An the pedals are pretty cheap new or used. So its not a big deal.
