Making new trem springs feel old?

well I'm getting an RG1527 in the mail soon, and though I haven't played it yet, I really want the feel of older springs so it doesn't feel stiff. Do ya'll know what I am talking about? Like the spongier, happier tremolos found in older guitars?

i was thinking, if i made a lever device that hangs off a table to strech the strings back and forth continiously, would that do the job?

thanks for any advice

That may do the trick, but an easier trick is to just make a board with posts, long enough to stretch the springs out over, and leave them there, stretched, for a period of time. Certainly easier on you than having to work that lever, over and over again.

Ya know... there's a real easy way to break in the springs of a new guitar...

Lets say you have three hooked up, unhook two of them from the claw but leave them attatched to the block. Then only one is being used. Leave it overnight/a day or two, then switch it up so that the other two get their turn. This way, one spring is dealing with what 3 normally do and it wears in a little faster.

After some serious thought. I have decided(at great cost to my self) to help you out send me your guitar and $18.99 (30 pack). Dont worry about the cost of putting my family up in a motel for the night. Ill take care of that. Just bring the old amp in the house put on the Astoria DVD and all the G3 DVD's. Ill get them springs broke in for you. Or you could just thread them thru a small bolt and hang something heavy from them. The choice is yours.

Springs develop a sort of memory so spend quite a while breaking it in Good for the chops too. I would worry with excessive movement if the springs wouldnt remain too open to return to neutral properly.

I would do it in small amounts, just so that if it overdoes it, the change won't be huge. Maybe a full day or two for each (for starters).
