Modding RG520 for pickguard and direct mount p/ups

Is it that difficult? What places do you suggest for pickguards? Opinions and tips highly appreciated.

WD and Pickguard Paradise are 2 places that will make custom pickguards. Now if you are going to direct-mount the pickups, you may need pickups with long "legs" or you may need to glue in small blocks for mounting and you would want the pickguard routed to have little "ears" so you can access the pickup screws(like this)
