Modding the whammy bar

Hey

I used the search but could not find the thread where someone modded an Edge pro so that it would imitate the screw on whammy bar of an Original Floyd Rose

Bascially I am fed up with my edge bar going all wobbly and when ever I abuse the whammy bar I notice it starts to slide out of its socket

Thanks

Re: Modding the whammy bar

i think if im not misten the entire hole that the wammy bar goes into...the wammy bar like snapps in....and the origional floyd has like a cap that threats onto a post inthe trem right...in that case just get the tubular threaded housing and replace it in the same place that the snap part is atached to on the fulcrum

does this mke sens,e maybe im thinking of another type....hope it helps

Re: Modding the whammy bar

Maybe my question is unclear

here are some pics to help me explain

Notice on the OFR that there is a screw holding the bar down

Notice how the Edge Pro has just an insert and nothing to lock it down

Mine has come to a point where it slips out of the insert when I dive and pull up

Re: Modding the whammy bar

Take the arm spring off your edge and bend it forward a tad more than it is and put it back. Then make sure your bushings are good and try it then.

Re: Modding the whammy bar

I'm not sure about the mod, but there are a couple solutions to keep it from slipping out of the insert. You can replace the plastic bushings, I think Rich at ibanezrules may have 'em. Otherwise, you can brush on some clear fingernail polish aroung the bushings to build them back up. I've done this on one of my edge trems and it holds pretty good. Just a couple ideas.

That sounds a bit dodgy and seems that it would only be a temporary solution and may increase chances of breaking the bar altogether

I was looking for the mod that someone on the forum done here that modded the floyd rose screw device onto an edge pro

There definitely was a mod I remember someone having a picture tutorial

I just cant find it as there are so many searches I can run and endless possibilities, its like reading every thread until I find it

It was ages ago too as I was back in Ireland when I read it
