MOding a RG prestige...

Did anyone of you all tried before the TREMOL-NO on the RG prestige before? How was it compare to the IBANEZ BACKSTOP ? more reliable ?

The Tremol-no is a great device, but it is a very different animal to something like a backstop or a trem-setter. There are no springs involved. It either lets the trem fully float, or locks it down hard (or locks it in dive only optionally). It just depends on what you are looking to achieve.

Re: MOding a RG prestige...

The tremol-no is nothing like the Backstop or any other trem setter. Like ryanb said, it just locks down your trem. I bought one and had it installed in one of my guitars once. As nice as it was to have my trems react like a hard tail, I personally wasn't satisfied with it since the trem was still relatively unstable when it wasn't locked down.

I should mention that with the backstop and other trem setting decives, I did notice an increase in sustain and resonance. I didn't really notice any improvement in sustain/resonance with the tremol-no unless I had it locked down.

It really comes down to what you want out of your guitar after you add a tremol-no or backstop. If you make use of your trem often and want better stability, get a backstop. If you hate floating bridges, get a tremol-no (or a fixed bridge guitar). The tremol-no would have been great back when I started playing guitar and blocked all my trems, but nowadays I don't see a need for it in my own personal playing.

Re: MOding a RG prestige...

Yeah, yeah, he's right...

the tremolo-no, which I have had now for several months(got in on the first issue), will not change the way your floating trem is set up, nor how it feels or operates...

for my purposes, this is quite desireable...

but I can understand how it couldn't be for some...

All it does is lock it down or make it dive only, and when it's not in play, there's no difference...

If yer having tuning problems, well, have you searched the forums for info regarding filing and/or lubing the trem posts? making sure you lock the studs? there's a lot of variables, and ideally, you should be able to find a set up where yor axe will stay in tune without any aftermarket crap... When you find that, that's when the tremol-no really can be a a whole new world....

I believe Rich has those backstops in stock.

Or you can check rockinger.de who have a type of the same thing.

That might be an option.

On the other hand, I was under the impression that "return to normal" was more an issue of setup.
