More tone? - steel rivets in the neck...

I had this mod done to the neck on one of the guitars I previously owned (sadly departed due to some quick fingered thieves and a brick), which was basically this:

I had steel rivets placed in the neck so that when the neck is attached to the body you can get it on "tighter" to allegedly increase the amount of resonance that gets transferred from the neck to the body.

I am considering doing the same to the BSB and UV7BK that I have gone out and got, and am wondering if anyone else has had this mod done. And wether people out there think it's worthwile or not. I never knew if the wood the body was made out of (mahogany) or the modded joint helped make the (stolen) guitar resonate the way it did, so if anyone has any thoughts/experiences?

cheers!

Sounds like a good idea, steel against steel would vibrate less than steel against wood, so if your steel "rivets" in the neck are well glued and secure I think that it would probably transfer the resonance better. The best resonance comes when the entire guitar resonates consistantly and evenly

Yeah, that sounds about right, the only doubt I do have about it is that with the last guitar I had that done to, the neck used to make a slight "crack/snap" noise if the trem bar was pulled up too far, but I am not sure if that was solely to do with the neck being quite thin (wizard neck) or it not being screwed on tightly enough.

I don't really want to find out I am causing damage to any necks, especially as I tend to use the whammy bar quite a lot...

Personally, I'd leave it alone, but if you want the metal to metal resonance, I suggest using two different metals, one hard and one soft, just to help eliminat the chance of having the bolts loosen, there's a ton of vibration in a guitar (duh) and two hard metals together will eventually cause a fatigue in the guitar as they will amplify the vibration at that point. *Just my suggestion though.
