I was just wondering if anyone knows how to get that music man neck feel. i.e. the process involved. thanks

they use gun stock oil and something else added apparently, i gun oiled a strat neck and it was the best feeling neck i ever had. im gonna do it to my ibanez soon as shes down the paint shop. no sticky sweat problems come summer with that neck.

it did for me, it was great. i know the petrucci model is gun stock oil and a special wax? What guitar are you doing it to?

Ernie Ball/Music Man uses a combination of Birchwood Casey Gunstock Oil (Tru-Oil) and Birchwood Casey Gunstock Wax.

I don't know the exact process off hand, but here's a good thread at the EB forums about application:

I actually have some of the stuff, but I just need to sand my necks and apply it to my guitars.

Edit: Now that you got me interested, I went ahead and signed up on the EBMM forums and created a thread asking how it should be done.

im doing to an old squire. i put locking tuners on it and took out the single coils and shoved 2 duncans in it.

Tru Oil is what I finish all my necks with. You get both a sealed "hard finish" and the feel of a "raw" neck.

i have a peavey wolfgang, i think was only treated with oil from the factory...both neck and fretboard are discolored from 11 years of abuse and cleaning during string changes. wondering if i should clean the neck & fretboard and apply the finsish discussed. my questions to the guys that have been finishing these necks with oil and wax are...
1. other than the oil bringing out the grain in the wood, does the oil and wax darken the finish of the neck?
2. how long does the wax last before needing to be treated again?
