Hi all,
Been playing 30 years. This is my first post as a brand new Jem VWH owner. New to the site. Looks like a great resource.
My question is... does one typically need to adjust the trem springs to achieve standard tuning fresh out of the box?
I did a quick search for this and didn't see anything right off the bat. Due to time constraints I'll post a new thread. Hoping someone has some experience with this.
The background:
I just bought my VWH brand new from Sweetwater Sound 2 days ago. It arrived yesterday. They claim to do a "55 point inspection" whenever they send a guitar out, but when I took it of the box out and examined it yesterday... it was flat from standard tuning. I unlocked and tried to slowly bring each string up hoping it would balance... but from what I can see the bridge is creeping up away from neutral and I'm not arriving at standard tuning yet... and I know that's not a good thing.
I've owned and operated original Floyd Rose guitars in the past and I know there is a point where you can screw the trem springs deeper to pull the guitar up to standard tuning and keep the bridge parallel to the body. I just didn't think I'd have to do that fresh out of the box.
Any input here?
On a totally seperate note... I can see 2 nicks in the trem cavity from where it appears to me a Sweetwater tech removed all the strings without blocking the trem. The two sharp edges on each side of the trem dug into the white paint, on one side actually cutting so deep you can see the wood. You think this would be reason enough to send it back to them?
