Re: My Camo Army style 540Pii
Wow, I'm normally not a fan of camo guitars, but I now realize it's because the ones I've seen (up till now) have never been done very well. This looks like it's gonna be really, really nice. Subscribed to this one.
Question: Is this a genuine Ibby body, or did you have someone make it?

Ibanez never offered a 540P with AANJ, only block heal.

Correct... its an after market body with a real Ibanez neck, so its as close as I was going to get without having to buy a real 540pii and removing the paint etc..
If I bought an original 540pii I would keep it that way and not remove the paint... so it was never an option to get a real body..
Im really happy with the paint job, the guy was fantastic, and did a few colors and I kept going back in untill I was happy with it.
Highly recomend

Re: My Camo Army style 540Pii
Now I am on holidays, my wife has given me one full day away from the kid and her to assemble the guitar, which fingers crossed will be this coming thursday...
I have a quick question for someone in the know.. I dont have holes drilled for the clip lock strap yet. Considering I have to drill through clear coat and paint, do I drill small holes and then use the screws that come with the dimarzio straps to self tap their way into the body ? I figure this will give me the exact depth instead of just drilling until I possibly go to far ?
Or do I measure off the drill bit with the dimarzio screw and go that route ?
I think id prefer to let the self taping screw to the work that way the screw is in the wood real tight..
did any of that make sense ?

Re: My Camo Army style 540Pii
You DEFINITELY want to drill pilot holes. Just select a bit that's slightly smaller than the strap pin screw. My suggestion is to hold the drill bit against the body and then hit the trigger. Otherwise, the drill bit can wobble and you'll tear up the paint.
Looking good so far, very interested in seeing the finished product.

Re: My Camo Army style 540Pii
Put a piece of painters tape over the location and use a pin as a center punch to mark your location. This way you protect the paint and the center punch will keep your bit from walking away.

Re: My Camo Army style 540Pii
Awesome.. Thanks for the advice guys.. Im most concerned about drilling into the top cutaway section as there is such a small section to drill into. Fingers crossed
