My first swirl attempts

So tonight I gave my first couple attempts at swirling. I just dipped 2x4's tonight. Tell me what you think. I know there are some issues paint gloping (yellow) and some white flakes where I didn't clean the tub thoroughly, but I'm experimenting.

Looks good. A few more attempts and you're going to be ready. Are you using water insoluble acrylic or oil base paint? I'm going to try my swirling hand before long...

That looks nice! With a little more practice you'll be ready for guitars. Meanwhile, why don't you swirl other objects, like dishes?? Ha, I've never thought of eating in a swirled dish.

What do you mean? Can you be more specific? Are you talking about the paint I'm using?

Yep, the square Testor's bottles and 20 Mule Team Borax. I just bought 5 colors to star with. Black, Dark Blue, Light Blue White and Yellow. The black and dark blue were fantastic right out of the bottle, light blue took a minute to dissipate. The white and yellow sank on the first try.

I have since tried a few more dips and am getting good results with 3 colors. I'm going to buy more paint colors and give those a shot as well. My first guitar dip will be coming soon.

I love swirls and I'm dying to dip in the near future a body of a future project.. keep us posted, nice job with the wood slabs...
