My first try at inlaying a neck What do you think???

I had a old Black Universe with green dot inlays and I decided i would try to replace them. I think it turned out pretty well what do you think?

Here are two closer pictures of the first two inlays.
I used a thin piece of clear plexi for the inlay and under it I placed a piece of paper that had the color pattern. I just used my computer printer to get that. I thought it was going to be more difficult then it was. I think the vine inlay would be alot harder to do but this one was not bad at all. I also got to try refretting my guitar for the first time due to this cosmetic overhaul. The refret went real good too I am glad there is not much of a radius to these necks then it would have been a little more difficult.

Thanks Rikk
I am also coming up with a way to make a chrome top for a jem that can be placed over the top of the body. I am pretty close to getting it done I think I will have it finished in the next week or two. When it is finished I will post pictures of that as well.

Very nice job man!

Hey maybe LGM could use an apprentice or expand his market penetration (BTW, why do I feel dirty whenever I use the word "penetration"? )

You've got a talent there my friend.

Thanks for all the nice comments.

I think you guys will really like the Chrome Jem I am working on. I am coming up with a way to make a chrome top for the Jem. Which if it works I will make available for you guys to buy your own chrome tops to place on your Jems. The materieals I am using are just awsome and I can tint the chrome in different colors. So if a person wanted a Green Chrome Jem they could. If this sounds cool let me know. The more of you guys that are interested the faster I will try to get it done. I know alot of you have been craving your own chrome jem's and I think your time might just be around the corner.

Yes, this sounds cool, and if my VSBL becomes the player's guitar I think it will, this is just the ticket. Blue-tinted chrome to go with the vine, bring it.

Very impressive!! For your first attempt I would say that you have a lot of patience and talent. Great job on the inlays and the refret. What did you use for the template for the inlays? (if you don't mind me asking)

Hmmm.... for the green chrome jem... (I'm just thinking out loud) what if you were to add some heat to the back side of it would it make the color kind of swirl thus producing the first chrome GMC???

Looks nice. I'm definitely interested in a chrome body, not necessarily a JEM, I have an RG body I want to make chrome but my best idea so far is aluminum tape that is used for heat ducts. Will look okay from a distance probably but still, there will be seams And I don't want to go the nickel plating route. Will yours be expensive?

jammer: That's a cool idea but I don't think it will work with the material I am using but I will have to mess around with some scrap pieces I have laying around.

crossingstar: The stuff i am using is one solid sheet over the top of the guitar no seams. I am going to finish this first one off and then make a few more and see how much time it takes to make them after I have all the kinks worked out. The time involved will be the biggest factor in the final price.
