Hey, just finished the mechanical parts of my project guitar, a Jackson mutant. It started off it's life as a Kelly Standard, but it doesn't resemble one anymore..

I replaced the body (couldn't get used to the shape) with an abused basswood dinky body, all new hardware (Floyd Pro, Gotoh tuners, Dimarzio pots/switch).. Put those stick-on inlays on the board, scalloped frets 19-24, sanded and tung-oiled the neck, routed the bridge cavity deeper (way more pull back), and finally dropped some Purple Breeds and knobs on it..

All that's left now it a refinish (gonna have someone esle sand it, then put a graphic I'm drawing up on it)..

The pics are on this page (since geocities won't cooperate with direct links): http://www.geocities.com/lordyosho/dinky.html

So, does it look as good as I think it does? Opinions welcome..

Whoa man. If it *plays good then hell yes that's a cool axe. If not, you might be better off selling it on Ebay or so some rookie guitarist and buy a Jem

Looks sweet and dangerous....... =o)

In that suttle hot rod kinda way where they hide the board and stroked big block engine with an extra set of mufflers...............

rsvampire: It plays great, just wish it had binding on the fretboard..

The only playablity issue, are the springs on the trem, I need to add a block-lok to it..

becalvert: Hehe.. I like simple looking guitars, just enough flash to look good.. It's quiet as a mouse too, shielded off the cavities, then used a totally hum-cancelling wiring scheme from Dimarzio someone posted on the old forum..

It's like this:
1- Bridge full
2- Bridge tapped + mid (humbucking)
3- Bridge tapped + Neck tapped (humbucking like JPM)
4- Neck tapped + Mid (humbucking)
5- Neck full

The little toggle between the knobs is a kill switch, and the tone is just for show, it's not connected..

Kevan: I'm still trying to secure my ride, I'll probably be there for at least one day.. Conning coworkers is a pain sometimes.. If I do end up at Jemfest, I was going to bring the modded RG750, but I guess I can haul this one too..

Thanks for the opinions guys, glad I'm not the only one that likes it..
