Well, you know the mounting screws are parallel to each other, then. You could try stacking small washer under the bar, with the screws through them, but then, you have to make sure you have the bar back to the right height. If you don't, the strings could go sharp, after you lock the nut. I say no big deal, just learn to live with it.

It's probably not going to stay up until you put the new strings on and tune up.

Re: my string tree wont stay up!!!!!

Not to sound stupid here but you do realize the strings go underneath the tree, I'm just saying....

Once the strings are under tension there will be enough force to keep the tree in the correct position. Put on your 1st and 6th strings first that'll help also.... plus you may have to coax it into position until you get some tension on your first two strings. Everybody probably has their own way of doing it though.

Re: my string tree wont stay up!!!!!

I change strings one at a time so that is not a problem(always a good idea with a floating trem anyway). A simple and cheap fix would be to remove the tree and reinstall with a little clear tubing over the screws. Surgical ubing like fender uses on their pickup mounting might work or see what home depot has for clear tubing(not sure if they carry really small stuff).

That is a good idea with the tubing to hold it in place.

I was going to say, "get viagra" when I read the thread title but my humor is off until I finish my coffee at least

Re: my string tree wont stay up!!!!!

I cut the ends like the old days as I hate trying to unwind the strings when they have the ball end still on at the tuner. You have to have the cutters handy anyway, so why not just do it nice and neat from the start? Even on the Edge Pro equipped guitars I have, I still cut the ball off because, by the time I back the screw out the 10 turns it takes to fit the ball thru, I had time to just cut the thing off.
