neck keeps moving side to side
I'm setting a guitar for a friend of mine in a band and he's been having this problem with the neck sliding from the bass side to the treble and as you could imagine it's messing up his tuning. Any suggestions on how to remedy it short of glueing the neck in place?

Had the same problem on an RG. First, check for burrs/saw dust in the neck pocket and remove them. If everything seems fine, put a shim on one side of the neck pocket (not under the neck, but besides the neck), that should help wonders.

Re: neck keeps moving side to side
If you have issues with necks sliding in pockets, try ading a piece of metal window screen between the neck and pocket. The metal will bite in to both surfaces, eliminating the shift. This is even reccomended by Dan Erelwine, in his books.

Re: neck keeps moving side to side
Thanks guys, I'll try that trick Racerx2k. It's just a cheap LTD M-107 Apple horn, I played it many times before and it's actually pretty nice for how low level it is. Another problem I'm having while setting it up is the
neck screws
take forever to fully tighten, and when they get close to being all the way in they get much harder to tighten and I don't want to strip out the neck holes, but I know the neck isn't fully down at this point. So far I've filled in 2 of the holes to give them better grip and it seemed to work, I'll try it on the last 2 holes to see if it takes care of the problem, thanks again for the help so far...

Frankfalbo spoke about this issue once. Your screws tightening up like that lead me to beleive, that the screws are binding against the body. They really shouldnt be doing this, and you may solve the issue altogether by widening the screw holes (on the body itself) . Make sure you read what i said carefully, and try the other methods first though.
