Neck shim/action alchemy to get buzz free guitar

My favourite guitar is a 2004 RG 2550ex (with the missed superwizard neck profile).

Action is set "low" as described on Rich excellent ibanezrules site. However the guitar buzzes a bit more than my RGA 121 set the same way.

I have noticed that the angle of the neck with the body seems more important on the 2550.

I think reducing the neck shim would help improve the situation. With the same action at the 24th fret, a neck with a smaller shim should help to increase slightly distance betwen strings and frets on the first five frets.

Can anyone confirm this opinion or give his experience on this matter?

http://www.jemsite.com/tech/2mods.htm#neckangle

Neck angle is really confusing to me. On my 570, when I bend the 15th fret on the 1st and 2nd strings, it will start to buzz bad and almost die. I decreased the neck angle because it seemed like thats what the directions above said but that made it worse so i increased the neck angle and that made it just a hair better. I'm giving up on this guitar and taking it somewhere.

Also, have you checked your nut height and neck bow too? Those could play a factor in fret buzz too

I hope you have better luck!

ps: you might wanna delete the other 2 threads you started that are identical to this cuz you accidentally created 3!

Thanks King!

I didn't identify the neck angle advice on jemsite. I think I'm going to follow Glen's advice and AVOID to touch this angle.

Let's plug this great guitar and just have fun out of it!

Sometimes I should avoid to cut hair in four parts.
