Need a neck - where to get?

One of my favorite Wizard (1) necks - an original year issue - has given up the ghost and broken for the last time. I need a replacement, but would prefer custom aftermarket over the "buy one on eBay" route (lest you get someone elses compound warp nightmare with a bad fret scale!).

Problem is, I cannot locate anyone online building custom Wizard style necks! Any recommendations from the good folks at Jemsite???

Thanks in advance,
/Bill B.

I bought a Carvin Bolt neck, and i think it's great... you can get semi-custom options (mine is maple/ebony with no face dots), and they've got great fretwork and awesome feel. Carvin also builds them with two graphite rods in channels under the fretboard, so it's probably also a very stable neck in the long run. The only drawback is they're only available in 22 fret versions. If you want a 24-fret neck, you'll likely have to go to Warmoth (who have an "Ibanez" profile) or get one built by hand.

Another big vote for the Carvin. VERY nice. It's thicker (20mm at 1st fret), so get it without finish on it and sand 'er down a little. No contest, it's the best bang for the buck out there.

Carvin doeas make a great neck! BUT, the 6 string versions are 25" scale. Warmoth generally does Strat replacement type necks and mostly for a Fender neck pocket. I seem to remember LIPE on the internet making necks?

If it's the original square pocket/heel on your Ibanez a Warmoth will work, they have 24 fret extension boards and a Wizard-ish profile, though it's really somewhere in between a Wizard and Wizard II. I've put my Warmoth neck into an old RG550 pocket to check for fit and it goes right in, no problem.
Also Custom Guitar Wares.

Incorrect.

Their neck-thru guitars are 25" scale. The Bolt guitars and replacement necks are 25.5".

In fact, the Carvin fits an Ibanez Radius pocket perfectly (as mine does). If you go this route, ask for "no drilled holes", as the Carvin bolt pattern is different from any Ibanez.

Yes, the 22 fret necks are 25-1/2", but the 24 fret necks (replacement) are 25". I asked if they could make a 25-1/2" 24 fret neck and they replied with they are not geared up for that.

I thought the 24s were only neck thru - you'd need to cut a lot of maple off to make a strat size bolt replacement, right?

Too bad they DON'T make a 22 fret 25.5" neck thru body, Eddie - I'd be askin' you for some JS shaped wings!

Actually, I believe you can actually buy an Ibanez neck if you'd like but you have to send the original back. I'd double-check this.

Mike777, I think you are correct! Why didn't I think of that?

WOW lot's of posts here for Carvin necks. Dude if you wanna get your Wizard neck back go to www.warmoth.com they make custom necks and bodies. They have necks shaped like a Wizard and Strat neck and such. So check them out. Not saying Carvin sucks...just saying they might give you more of what you want than Carvin will.

are you sure about this? every time I asked about this people have told me that the warmoth necks will fit the pocket but not intonate correctly because the length of the actual neck isnīt the same as on the old Ibanez JEM/RG necks?

Original RG and JEM necks (in fact nearly all Ibanez pre-aanj bolt-ons) are built to the "Fender" spec, meaning they are 25.5" scale and will accept any guitar neck built to fit a Fender. The rules change a bit when you're getting a neck built for your AANJ guitar.

Warmoth necks are built to the "Fender" spec as well. ALL of them, unless you get a 24.75" scale neck, or they specifically state differently. This applies to their LP models as well.

You can get a neck from Ibanez, but it costs an arm and a leg and you are required to send your old neck in. Good luck!

this would mean that I could make a body using the JEM777 blueprints and just get a warmoth neck... I like it thanks. I think Iīll double-check though, just to make sure
