need help on jem

Hi I just ordered a JEM7V white guitar. I heard that it will have some action problems when it arrives. I want the action as low as it can go, with the factory setting will I need to adjust anything???What should I do when i get the guitar to make sure it has the lowest action, which screws need to be adjusted and turned etc.

Thanks

This is from that swirly banner near the top right of this page:

http://www.ibanezrules.com/tech.htm

Although I don't always agree with Rich on some things, he is a good guy
and has put lots of work into this hobby/job. He also sells some mean
axes!

This site has also a very good "tech section",
a step-by-step guide for setting up your beloved 7vwh!
http://www.jemsite.com/tech/index.htm

And indeed, the factory settings aren't that good so the chance is great that you will have to setup the axe yourself.

Oh and BTW, congrats on your new axe !!

Cheers,
Joten

Hey welcome aboard and good to see another St. Louis person here. There's not too many of us around, me and rlintz basically.

Definitely go to the guitars section of jemsite and print the entire tech setup section. Then read it all the way through before doing anything. JEMs and UV's are a labor of love...difficult to get playing great, but once you do, nothing else compares.

Congrats on the new axe, enjoy.

And I have a drill bit at home with half the post and insert welded to it at home to prove this point. Make sure, always! Me, my concentration lapsed for a second (heavy weekend) and I forgot about them...

Not good when the guy who's guitar you are setting up is next to you

Got it fixed though!

Again, Check the tech section:
http://www.jemsite.com/tech/t_1setup.htm#step2 (tremolo bridge height)
Where you can find a picture of the set screw.

Cheers,
Joten
