Need Recommendation from the Experts--best book or DVD to buy?

Can you give your opinion on one or two books you believe are the best for learning to work on guitars (e.g., repairs, setups, installing, etc), specifically Ibanez?

I always learn best by trial and error on a "guinea pig" but I haven't found an Ibanez to do that on yet. I'm still looking for that perfect Ibanez beater guitar where it's ok to REALLY screw up and sleep well at night.

Anyways, so far I have Guitar Player Repair Guide on the shopping list. Any others I should consider please let me know.

Rich, do you have a recommendation? Did you publish your own book yet? Actually you kind of did that on your website. Thanks!

Paul

Apparently Rich doesn't like Erlwine's method for fret leveling though...There was a big thread around here a couple of months ago about it where the argument became pretty heated.

Edit: here it is.

Guitar Player Repair Guide by Dan Erlewine. One of the best investments I've ever made. It has saved me tons of money, by allowing me to learn how to do my own upkeep and repairs.

Appreciate your help all. I'll look into the Erlwine's method...missed that during my research.

+1 on the Dan Erlewine stuff.

Although he does advertise a lot for the Stew Mac stuff many of the tools and things can be cheaply made or 'adapted' by other tools.

Alternatively there's also the ebook written by Jim Donahue (former Ibanez R&D guy) which also covers repair but I forgot how much it covers.

Does anybody have that Jim Donahue e-book? Is it good? I was thinking about getting it out of curiosity.

I have it actually. I just found where I saved it this morning and although it's a good book, it's geared more towards guitar design and production but there is a section on factory repair and guitar maintenance. It's about as direct to Ibanez as you can get and I would highly recommend it, but since it is kinda geared towards the building/design/production of guitars there may be a good chunk of the book that may not be relevant to you.
