Re: New strat build project
Warmoth
does VERY nice stuff - I just posted my partscaster in the Other Guitars forum, coincidentally. I also went with the SS6150 fretwire - I'd meant to do regular Jumbo 6100 in stainless, but I accidentally checked the wrong box in my excitement when I put the neck order in (I grabbed a showcase neck with a gorgeous chaotic quilt/birdseye, but one that hadn't yet been fretted), and when I got it strung up I found I absolutely loved it, anyway.
Unfortunately, I'm sure this won't be my last Warmoth project.

Yeah I did the same thing. It's narrower than I was expecting, but I hope I like it.

Re: New strat build project
Here's the tuners all installed. Hope these sort out the need for a string tree
Pickguard arrived today, test fit. Can't wait to get the rest sorted.
And a progress picture of the bridge

Re: New strat build project
All wired up, ready to go. Hoping that my stand by bridge might arrive today or tomorrow at the local music shop so I can finish it off. Well until my good bridge arrives. Hoping that this really is a kickass player.
Working out the costs of this, including shipping on the items, it it has ended up costing me a bit more than a new Squier Classic Vibe
Strat
(which is just under $600 here in Australia), and it has a more preferable neck shape, stainless steel frets, and compound radius fretboard, so for me it's been well worth it.

I would say that this guitar is directly comparable to a $900 Charvel. I think you did VERY well my friend........I can wait to see a clip of it in action!!!

$900 American... No telling how that compares to Australian. This looks a lot like my dream Charvel SoCal... I might have to do this someday... Especially since they don't make it anymore.

Thanks, I hope it plays as well as it looks (from afar). The clear coat on the fretboard and headstock looks pretty ****ty (and a little damaged now too), but the back feels great. I'm interested primarily in playability at this stage, so not too concern with the aesthetics.
I still definitely want one of those Charvel Pro Mods. So hard to get here in Australia now, and they seem becoming rare to find for sale in the States too.

Actually, the USD and the AUD are usually pretty close. In this case, $900 USD equates to $865 and some change AUD......... just a little side info.
