Re: New Swirl!!!!!!! LOOK

Behind the bridge looks a little rough, but I really like the swirl on the lower horn.

Re: New Swirl!!!!!!! LOOK

As long as you like it, thats all thats important, but since you asked...it doesnt look even at all. It looks like you shouldve kept swirling to get the colors spread out better, it looks like they all kinda clumped up in a few areas.

Re: New Swirl!!!!!!! LOOK

Below the lion's claw cavity, there was a blank spot in the swirl. This was just white. I didn't like it so I put some purple in the water and dipped it so just that spot could be covered. To the right of the bridge Pu cavity is a swirl pattern that is very fine and can only be seen in person. In the pics it looks like splotches.

Great improvement from the previous 2. you are definitely on the right track. Now if I was you I'll sand this one down to the white base and redo it even better. with everything you learned up till now it must be.

Re: New Swirl!!!!!!! LOOK

I just saw your other thread with the pictures of the 3 attempts you made on this and my first advice to you is don't deep until you see something that you realy like in the water. If it doesn't look like a swirl in the water then it will not look like a swirl on the guitar. If you don't get a nice pattern in the water and the paint starts to dry then wipe it out of the water with some news paper or something and try again. Deep the guitar only when the paint looks like something you definitely want to have on your guitar.

Re: New Swirl!!!!!!! LOOK

The paints I am using are not consistent. This makes it hard to swirl them while in the water. Some parts of this swirl came out fabulous, but if just the front swirl under the trem cavity wasn't Shi**y I'd be completely content. I would like to swirl it again but it is hard to sand away those beautiful patterns. I will contemplate refinishing it again today.

Re: New Swirl!!!!!!! LOOK

I know it's hard, but I can tell you that I sanded down some nice swirls that were ok because of 1 or 2 nasty drips or runs that ruined it for me.

Re: New Swirl!!!!!!! LOOK

Yeah, why would you want to have a guitar that you custom made where you dont like parts of it??

Re: New Swirl!!!!!!! LOOK

Love the colors but you might have trouble with the pup color matching the vine with the body.
(did you get the neck from CWG looks like a neck I was going to buy )

Re: New Swirl!!!!!!! LOOK

yes I did get it from Chris Woods. I couldn't find the color of the vine in paints that can be swirled. I am thinking of paint the middle pickup to the color of the vine. Knobs and switch as well.
