another question here. ive decided to block the bridge, remove the strings all at once and do it that way. what i want to know is, if i put in the strings and tune them all to pitch, wont it go back out of tune once i remove the block seeing as how the bridge is going to go back outward?

Go to Rich's web page, he has lots of detailed instructions there, with pictures.

Helped many a new guitarist learn to set up their PAIN IN THE ASS Edge trems.

Rich, that's a pretty damn amazing page. I just wish I knew about it before I hacked my Jem10 into 605 1-inch-square pieces trying to get the trem out. That's what someone on the internet told me to do. I think his name was Bubba.

Actually, what I wanted to say was this: yes, it's a stunning page, really easy to follow and the pics help tremendously. I have a constructive suggestion that I believe would make it even better.

One piece of info that I couldn't find in visual form anywhere was how to attach/wind and correctly cut the strings at the tuning pegs. I didn't know to make a 90 degree kink in the string and let the string drag itself to get a nice clean set of windings at the top. Ermmm...does that make sense? It's just that when I had my axe set up professionally I was baffled at how tidy the windings were compared to when I did it (a mess frankly).

That site that I posted above has the pics in an okay-ish manner, but that whole jackson reverse headstock is a bit baffling, and the author seems to take a intuitive leap from one pic to the next.

So, if you would be so kind as to perhaps think about my suggestion when you have time...I'm guessing that you're still busy as ever. I've looked high and low, and the information is definitely lacking out there on the web. I figured it out in the end by looking at a book (books are kinda like a slow version of the internet, y'all may not remember them).

Thank you for your attention.

Alot of that individual stuff is covered in the Primer, it just need to be chopped up into little sections with seperate links. I keep saying "when I get the time..."

BTW the Tech page is way too pic intensive and needs to be chopped up itself for easy laoding "when I get the time..."

Actually, if I may answer before Rich . . .

There's another thread where we're discussing the pros and cons of threading with the ball end at the headstock.

http://www.jemsite.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=19851

Good points both ways, but after years of cutting off the ball ends, I'm going to try leaving them on at the headstock, as Rich does, and see how I like it.

Nope, and when I get some I have previous obligations, why I've said repeatedly order them from a Hoshino USA territory dealer.

No problem, thanks though.

The dope at my local dealership is still giving me grief about the posts though . . .

"It's for your own good, you shouldn't be doing that on a new guitar, it doesn't need new posts, they should last for years. The guitar is still under waranty, you'll void it if you do that."

He just doesn't get the "good post/bad post" thing, even though (and I hope you don't mind Rich) I printed that pic and the information from your page and showed it to him.

He pretty much blew it off as "propaganda to sell you something" even though I told him that it was YOU that suggested I order from a dealer, not to wait until you had them in stock . . .

I guess I'll just have to make the drive to Guitar Center in Springfield (NJ), <sigh>.

You can bet I won't be going back to the guy I bought the thing from again . . .

i still can't get the damn trem angle right even if i adjust the claw screws in the back. i dont know what exactly to do here, so i took some pics and maybe you guys can help me out. first off, here's the angle that it's at:

one more pic of the angle:

and heres a pic of the back:

right now the claw screws are in the body pretty deep, and i dont want to go any deeper for fear of stripping the screws. also another thing i just noticed is how one of the saddles got moved forward somehow and dont know how to align them:

another pic of the saddle:
