Don't give up on it man, it's worth it. Before I bought my Jem from Rich, I had never touched a Floyd based trem. When I got it, I dreaded the day it would need restrung. However, I read of all Rich's site, and now can change the action, adjust the trem, put new strings on, you name it :P It seems like a pain in the butt at first, but after a few tries it gets pretty easy, in my opinion.
