As I talked about on
this thread and
this thread, I was struggling on making the adjustements on my new Universe UV7BK, which came to me with .010 and a very very poor setup. After make a lot of adjustements, I ended up having to make a truss rod adjust, and I had no proper wrench. And I could not find it anywhere. I could order one online, but I know only a few stores ship to Brazil, and it would take an eternity to come.
Welp, so I started to run after to improvise something, because I was going nuts by looking at such guitar and could not play it. Yes, I'm paranoid enough to play on the guitar only if its setup is perfect enough to my tastes.
So I found a socket wrenches kit wich came with a 7mm socket, which fit perfectly on the truss rod cavity:
And this kit was incredibly cheap for its value.
But that yellow wrench you can see on the picture above was not long enough in order to allow me move the truss rod, it's too short. So, looking at the back of the 7mm socket, I saw a square slot where the wrench should go.
Then I started testing some
allen wrenches there, but they are hexagonal, and the best fitting one was somewhat loose. So I ended up asking a guy to make a welding on the allen key and the socket, and
voilá:
And now I have my own truss
rod wrench, and thanks to all the tips given me by the guys here (specially the class given me by my friend Tubarão), I just finished the Universe setup yesterday, right on time to my saturday night gig.
