Odd Buzz
I have a strange sustain killing buzz when I do a full bend on the 16th fret of my high e string. Could this be a sign that the frets need to be filed?
cheers!
p.s. Every other fret is fine, so i'm sure it has nothing to do with my
bridge saddles
or the
neck position
. But then again, i'm an idiot!

Not sure if this is the problem, but are your strings old? If i play my strings till they're pretty worn, the high e always loses sustain in the
upper frets
. When amped, it has this "oscillating" sound. really wierd.

Nope. This has been going on for quite a while. I change my strings regularly.
cheers!
p.s. This effect ONLY occurs on the 16th fret. Not above or below the given point.

Sounds like 17 is a tad high right at the spot the string ends up in the bend. Check the clearence off the top of the 17th, then bend the 17th and check the clearence off the top of 18 to determine if 17 is high or 16 is low. Ultimately a level will solve it, but if it's just one fret that a little high [and it won't affect 18] you can do a little spot sand on that one fret to clean it up.
