Odd Noise...

I just got my RG2570 set up in C standard (with Daddario 12-54 gauge strings). Now when I play, the low F and C strings vibrate often, causing unwanted noise. This is making sweep picking particularly impossible, as just too much extraneous noise is created and it sounds messy. It is also especially noticeable when playing high leads up on the top G and C, many notes cause the bottom 2 strings to just start vibrating of their own accord.

I thought this might be the springs, but I've since stuck a load of tissue paper in the cavity to prevent them ringing out, yet the noise persists.

Any ideas/advice?

Mark.

Re: Odd Noise...

Hmm, after a days playing, I'm starting to improve my muting technique to stop the noise, so it's not really an issue now.

Forcing me to play cleaner can't be that bad :P

Re: Odd Noise...

Nah, the low tuning (C standard - 2 tones lower) makes them balance out tension wise; they feel a lot like 9s in E, just a bit tighter. In terms of thickness, I'm used to playing a 7 string with 54s, so I haven't really had a problem adjusting.

I think I actually prefer the slightly thicker high strings for fast picking, they give slightly more resistance against the pick, which I like.
